3 Checks Before Approval

01 · Load, temperature & time

For zinc alloy creep resistance, review sustained load, temperature and duration together.

02 · Coating & final fit

Agree visible faces, masks and dimensions after finishing.

03 · Casting route & evidence

ZA-8 can use hot-chamber casting; review ZA-12 and ZA-27 with cold-chamber or agreed gravity routes.

Answers Before You Specify

Which zinc alloy should I specify for custom parts?

Start with load, temperature, duration, movement, appearance and final fit. Review grade supply and casting route with your drawing before approval.

Can Zamak 3 and Zamak 5 be substituted?

Review the ordered specification, ductility, service load and finished-part acceptance. Obtain drawing-authority approval before changing the material.

What do ZP and ZL identify?

ZP references identify casting grades; EN 1774 ingot/liquid callouts use ZL. Retain the full product specification and revision instead of substituting the short code alone.

Can all ZA grades use the same casting route?

No. ZA-8 can be hot-chamber die cast. ZA-12 and ZA-27 require separate cold-chamber or agreed gravity-route review.

How does service temperature affect zinc alloy selection?

Assess sustained load, temperature and exposure time together. Request applicable creep data and acceptance for your actual duty; room-temperature strength alone does not establish long-term performance.

What material certificate is needed for zinc alloy castings?

Agree grade, ordered standard and revision, lot identity, composition evidence and certificate contents. Dimensional reports and functional test records answer separate requirements.

How to choose between zinc alloy casting and machining?

Compare geometry, quantity, available stock, tooling and critical finished surfaces. Cast near-net features and secondary machining require a coordinated allowance and datum plan.

What should your zinc alloy casting quote include?

Provide CAD, controlled drawing, grade, load and temperature, quantities, finish sample requirements, final fit and receiving evidence. Tooling and production scope are reviewed against those inputs.
