YOUR SILICONE PRODUCT. YOUR CURE STATE. YOUR FINISHED FIT.

Silicone / LSR Material for Your Custom Parts

Review liquid silicone rubber material for your custom seals, membranes and flexible components. Specify the complete silicone product, supply form, cure state, operating conditions and critical dimensions so your quotation and sample approval cover the same finished part.

Quote requirements →

This is a materials purchasing guide, distinct from the existing Silicone/LSR Molding service page. Availability and manufacturing scope require drawing review.

4 Starting Points for Your Silicone Review

LSR Molded Components concept — illustrative generated concept
Illustrative concept — not material identification

LSR Molded Components

For your liquid silicone rubber material review, confirm the exact two-component product, tooling scope and cured-part acceptance.

Solid Silicone Compounds concept — illustrative generated concept
Illustrative concept — not material identification

Solid Silicone Compounds

Keep the compound, cure system and processing route distinct from LSR. A finished gasket appearance does not identify its raw material form.

Prototype Samples concept — illustrative generated concept
Illustrative concept — not material identification

Prototype Samples

Use silicone prototype parts for an agreed fit or function review. Record material and processing differences from the intended production product.

Multi-Material Assemblies concept — illustrative generated concept

Multi-Material Assemblies

Review your silicone and substrate together, including interface geometry, surface preparation, process and an agreed adhesion test.

LSR: Exact Two-Component Product

Confirm the full liquid silicone rubber material, components, handling and current manufacturer processing instructions. Specify platinum cured silicone through the actual product and cure system, not a generic label.

Cured Stock or a Separate Compound — illustrative generated concept

Cured Stock or a Separate Compound

For cured sheet, cord or another silicone compound, identify its producer, full product, supplied condition and lot. Do not substitute LSR resin information for unspecified stock or a different cure system.

Resolve 6 Silicone Material Risks

Hardness & specification for Your Finished Part

Silicone Shore hardness is one material input. Can Shore hardness alone specify an LSR material? Confirm the full product, cure condition, dimensions, media, load and functional approval.

Answers Before You Specify

What information is needed for a custom LSR molding quote?

Send CAD and controlled drawing, full silicone product and color, order quantities, tooling scope, media, temperature, movement, critical fits, appearance and required inspection records.

Is silicone flash removal included in the molding quote?

Agree the permissible parting-line condition, sealing surfaces, removal method and inspection scope explicitly. Quotes must cover the same finished-part requirement.

When should LSR injection molding replace silicone compression molding?

Review the exact material, geometry, quantities, tooling, cure, handling and sample acceptance. These routes use different material and process evidence; suitability requires a project-specific review.

Can a cast silicone prototype validate production LSR parts?

Only for its agreed purpose. Record differences in material, cure, tooling and processing. A cast fit sample does not by itself validate production LSR performance.

Does every silicone grade require post curing?

No universal rule is applied. Follow current instructions for the exact product and agree cure state, required properties, application evidence and the supplied finished condition.

What records are needed for specified silicone grade parts?

Agree full manufacturer product, color, batch, supplied cure condition, drawing and approved sample, dimensional inspection and specified functional tests. A medical grade LSR requirement needs exact-product and intended-application evidence; no blanket finished-part approval is implied.

Retain the Full Silicone Product and Cure Condition

ReferenceWhat it does and does not identify
LSR / liquid silicone rubberA liquid processing form; specify the complete product and component system.
HCR / solid silicone rubberA separate compound form and processing direction, not an automatic LSR substitute.
Platinum cured siliconeA cure-system description; retain exact product and current instructions.
ELASTOSIL LR 3003 seriesNamed manufacturer products. Full grade suffix, batch and cure evidence remain necessary.

VMQ and other generic silicone designations do not approve a manufacturer-grade substitution. Retain the complete product and application evidence rather than inventing an EN/DIN equivalent.
