YOUR BASELINE. YOUR APPROVALS. YOUR REPEAT ORDER.

Production Launch Checklist Agree the Evidence Before You Release Your Order

Use this manufacturing production launch checklist to connect the approved drawing, material, sample, packing and required records. Make unresolved decisions visible before production release.

Compare 5 Release Decisions Against Their Evidence

Your production-release evidence matrix
DecisionReference to agreeApproval question
DrawingCurrent revision, units, critical dimensions and specified acceptance.Identify the approved reference and decision owner.
Material & finishFull grade, condition, treatment and protected surfaces.Confirm permitted alternatives and required approval.
SampleAgreed checks, results and unresolved limitations.Confirm what the sample does and does not approve.
PackingProtection, identification, handling and shipment scope.Agree the required final packing condition.
RecordsRequired inspection/material records and format.Confirm which evidence accompanies release.

This is a planning comparison, not an audit result or evidence that your order is ready. The actual drawing, order requirements and approvals govern release.

Define Prototype Approval Before Production

Identify which requirements the prototype or first sample was built to demonstrate. A fit-check concept, dimensional sample and validated application can have different approval scopes.

Sample baseline

Identify the drawing revision, material, process and any intentional deviations.

Agreed evidence

Review the specified dimensions, interfaces, appearance and required records.

Remaining decisions

List unresolved items and separate application-level validation from component acceptance.

Your Manufacturing Engineering Change Checklist

Two different bracket concepts beside separate plain revision folders; illustrative component concept, not measured/company/customer part

Identify the change

Record the affected drawing, material, process, quantity or acceptance requirement.

Review the impact

Identify affected parts, tooling, checks, records and delivery assumptions.

Obtain approval

Confirm the required authority before implementing the revised baseline.

Communicate the release

Make the approved revision and any disposition clear to each responsible party.

These are different illustrative design concepts, not approved interchangeable revisions or a documented cost-reduction case.

Your Production Packaging Requirements Checklist

Connect packing to the part features and receiving process. Agree protection and identification rather than assuming a generic box meets your needs.

Protect the features

Identify contact faces, finished surfaces, threads and fragile features needing protection.

Identify the supply

Agree part/revision identification, quantity grouping and required lot references.

Define the condition

Specify handling, cleanliness, moisture protection or other requirements for scope review. Confirm any special packing validation separately.

Agree the Records and Contacts for Release

Clean sample component concepts beside plain records binder and protected tray; illustrative component concept, not measured/company/customer part

Inspection scope

Agree the features, methods, sampling and record format that apply to your order.

Material scope

Agree the certificate, grade/condition and traceability records required for the supplied product.

Release responsibility

Identify who reviews the evidence, who authorizes release and how exceptions are handled.

6 Inputs for Your Release Review

  1. Approved drawing, CAD and revision baseline.
  2. Material, finish and any permitted alternatives.
  3. Sample review status and unresolved items.
  4. Order quantity and repeat-demand assumptions.
  5. Required records, packing and delivery condition.
  6. Approval contacts and change-control responsibilities.

Answers Before Production Release

What should be approved before releasing a production order?

Agree the drawing baseline, material and finish, sample acceptance, required evidence, packing and approval responsibilities. Resolve remaining conditions before release.

Does prototype approval automatically approve the production process?

No. Identify differences in material, geometry, process and required evidence and agree the production acceptance scope.

Can an engineering change be made after the order starts?

Identify the affected work and obtain the required approval. Review disposition, timing and commercial implications against the agreed order.

Does this checklist prove production readiness?

No. It organizes review questions. Readiness depends on your actual requirements, evidence and authorized decisions.
