3 Decisions Before Your Die Is Built

Define the requirements that affect your material, tooling and acceptance plan.

01

Your alloy

Grade, condition and working environment.

02

Your interfaces

Core geometry, machining stock and final fit.

03

Your demand

Trial quantity, first order and repeat demand.

Aluminum Permanent Mold Casting: Grade + Condition

Agree the casting alloy and delivery state together; a grade name alone does not define your acceptance.

AlloyExact grade and applicable specification
ConditionAs-cast or agreed heat-treated state
EvidenceMaterial lot, test specimen and acceptance requirements

Your Gravity Die Casting Process in 6 Steps

Link the reusable die, actual cast samples and finished drawing in one agreed route.

01

Prepare the die

02

Preheat & coat

03

Set cores, if needed

04

Pour by gravity

05

Solidify & remove

06

Trim & inspect

Casting inspection is followed by any agreed heat treatment, machining and final acceptance.

Resolve 6 Details Before Tooling

Your gravity die casting design guide starts with your critical interfaces.

Protect Your Final Fit After Heat Treatment

Review stock, support and possible distortion before finishing critical bores.

4 Tooling Terms to Agree

A gravity die casting mold is reusable, not maintenance-free. Confirm scope in your quotation.

01

Ownership & location

Who owns the die and where it is stored.

02

Core tooling & consumables

Answers Before You Commit

Can gravity die cast aluminum be heat treated?

Suitable casting alloys can be heat treated. Confirm the grade, casting condition, heat-treatment route and test basis. Do not assume every alloy can use the same T6 route.

What is permanent mold casting?

A reusable metal mold forms successive castings. This page covers gravity filling; other permanent-mold routes can use pressure assistance and require a separate review.

How much does gravity die casting cost?

Compare die and core tooling with recurring casting, heat treatment, machining, inspection and delivery. The allocation example above divides an assumed tool cost by quantity; it is not a quotation.

What is the minimum order quantity for gravity die casting?

Economic quantity depends on alloy, geometry, core work and acceptance scope. Share trial, first-order and repeat demand; example quantities are not minimum orders.

How long does gravity die casting take?

Agree separate milestones for drawing review, tooling, first cast samples, any heat treatment, machining and approval. Timing is confirmed for the actual scope.

Gravity casting vs die casting: which route fits your part?

Compare alloy, cored geometry, finished features and demand. Gravity filling and high-pressure injection require different tooling and process plans. Review the finished part before selecting the route.
