YOUR MATERIAL. YOUR INTERFACES. YOUR ACCEPTANCE.
Your specialty magnesium parts review starts with the complete callout. Separate wrought machining stock from castings, then confirm delivery condition, protective finish and the evidence your assembly needs.

4 review topics connect the material to your drawing. Keep the delivered product and receiving criteria explicit.
For rare earth magnesium alloy machining or high temperature magnesium alloy parts, specify load, temperature and exposure duration. An alloy-family name cannot establish creep life, coating suitability or LK availability.
| Your reference | What to define |
|---|---|
| Your material | Drawing-specified wrought and casting magnesium families |
| Your route | Grade-specific route review |
| Your drawing | Critical interfaces, allowable deformation and final fit |

For WE43 machining, ZK60A machining, AZ80A machining or AZ61A machining, confirm the exact grade, product form and delivery condition. Specialty availability and processing scope require project confirmation.
| Your reference | What to define |
|---|---|
| Incoming condition | Specification, product form, lot and usable allowance |
| Working features | Datums, cutter access, bores, threads and accepted edges |
| Your approval | First sample in the agreed measurement state |

For your Other Magnesium Alloys surface treatment, review exposure and mating metals before choosing a protection system. Define masked contact lands, thread coverage, gasket surfaces and dimensions after finishing.
| Your reference | What to define |
|---|---|
| Your environment | Moisture, chemicals, storage, temperature and duration |
| Your assembly | Contact materials, isolation and electrical requirements |
| Your final fit | Coating build, masked lands and measurement condition |

Link material identity to your controlled drawing and the finished measurement state. Dimensional inspection does not establish corrosion life, energy absorption or pressure integrity.
| Your reference | What to define |
|---|---|
| Material & lot | Full callout and material-lot evidence |
| Dimensional records | Critical features, agreed methods and sampling |
| Functional evidence | Separate load, leak or finish test when specified |

| Reference | Your approval boundary |
|---|---|
| Other Magnesium Alloys | Retain the complete grade and suffix |
| Grade-specific supplier and product references | No single equivalent covers all specialty grades |
| WE43B casting and WE43C wrought remain distinct | Reference family / historical name only |
Retain complete suffixes, standard, product form and temper. WE43B is a casting reference; RotaMag 43 is identified by its supplier as ASTM WE43C wrought material. Do not substitute one for the other.
IMS product designation scope → Product-specific reference →Confirm the complete specification for each family.

AZ61A machining, AZ80A machining and ZK60A machining require the full product form and temper. Review ZK60A extrusion and AZ80A forging as separate supply routes.

AE42 die casting and AS41B die casting require grade-specific process and service review. A high-temperature family label is not a creep-life promise.

For WE43 machining or WE43 supplier review, identify WE43B casting versus WE43C wrought. Specify the full WE54 product route and condition before comparison.
COMPOSITION AND PRODUCT SCOPE
Selected Luxfer Elektron WE43B casting chemistry in wt.%. This is not WE43C wrought chemistry or one composition for all specialty alloys. Request the complete specification and material-lot evidence.
For your material analysis report, agree the complete element list, ordered limits, method and lot identity. The reference table is not a test of the illustrated component.
| Selected element | wt.% reference |
|---|---|
| Yttrium (WE43B casting) | 3.7–4.3 |
| Rare earths (WE43B casting) | 2.4–4.4 |
| Zirconium (WE43B casting) | ≥0.4 |
| Magnesium | Balance |

Luxfer Magnesium Extrusions Summary, Table 1: stated ASTM B107-13 minimums for solid extrusions in the listed conditions. This is a comparison of grade plus condition, not a ranking of all material forms. No WE43B casting result is mixed into this chart. Retain the current order specification, size and test requirements.

Drawing-specified wrought and casting magnesium families. Select the exact product specification and final condition around your drawing; the family name alone is not purchasing acceptance.
Review stock allowance, datum support, cutter access, bores, threads, accepted edges and the final coating. Machining may expose subsurface porosity; agree any separate integrity test.
Send controlled CAD and drawing, full material and product specification, route and delivery state, quantities, finish, critical fits and inspection needs. Tooling, trial and repeat demand should be separated.
Compare your actual geometry, stock availability, delivery condition, loads, environment and coating. For WE43 vs ZK60A for machined parts, first separate the wrought/cast product and temper; neither family is universally best.
Define exposure, temperature, duration and mating metals. Review a compatible preparation and coating system, isolation, masked lands and dimensions after finishing. Other Magnesium Alloys corrosion resistance is not a universal coating-life guarantee.
Obtain drawing-authority approval after comparing complete product specifications, delivery states, service conditions and finished acceptance. Similar names do not establish equivalence.
Material sourcing, geometry, usable stock, tooling, secondary machining, protection system, quantities and required records change the reviewed price. Compare the same drawing revision and acceptance scope.
No. ZK60A T5 properties and AZ80A T5 properties require the matched product form, condition, section and test direction. Keep supplier data tied to your ordered material. WE43 surface treatment must match the full grade and exposure.
