Start with the alloy on your drawing and the job your casting must do. Compare other aluminum casting alloys by route, required condition, machined interfaces and acceptance evidence.
Use this page to prepare a project-specific review of 319, A357, A413 or B390. Material availability, process suitability and qualification need confirmation for your actual part.

FOR YOUR HOUSING AND MACHINED INTERFACES
For 319 aluminum casting services, identify the casting route and final required condition. Custom 319 aluminum castings need controlled datums, machining allowance and agreed acceptance.
When comparing a 319 aluminum foundry, keep 319 sand casting and 319 permanent mold casting proposals on the same supplied-part scope. Their tooling and process plans are different.
If your drawing calls for 319 T6 aluminum, retain the exact temper through procurement and processing rather than omitting it from the quote.
Sand casting → · Gravity casting →YOUR SPECIFICATION + YOUR APPROVAL ROUTE
A357 casting services should preserve the complete alloy and temper callout. For custom A357 castings, agree the casting process, heat-treatment condition and required tests before tooling.
Ask your proposed A357 casting supplier how A357 sand casting and subsequent operations will be controlled for your drawing. A357-T6 is a specified heat-treated condition, not an automatic replacement for A356-T6.
A357 T6 heat treatment needs an approved cycle and verification under the applicable specification. A single generic time/temperature schedule is not suitable for every part.
Review A356 and T6 decisions →

For A413 die casting services, review the filling path, local walls and sealing interfaces. A413 high pressure die casting must still be evaluated for the actual geometry and acceptance criteria.
When selecting an A413 die casting manufacturer, specify the medium, pressure, test method and limit if leakage matters. Custom A413 die cast parts do not receive a universal leak rating from the alloy designation.
Plan A413 CNC machining around the bores, ports and gasket lands required by the assembly.
Aluminum die casting →YOUR WEAR CONTACT + YOUR FINISHED BORE
B390 die casting services need a clear description of the surface that carries contact or sliding duty. Review B390 wear resistance with the mating material, lubrication, finish and operating conditions.
For B390 high pressure die casting, agree local geometry and internal-quality acceptance. Custom B390 die cast parts also require a machining and inspection plan for the critical contact surfaces.
When comparing a B390 die casting manufacturer, ask how B390 CNC machining, surface condition and final bore geometry will be reviewed. Material guidance does not establish a tested wear life.

A413 AND B390 · SAME TYPICAL AS-CAST BASIS
| Published reference | A413 | B390 |
|---|---|---|
| Ultimate tensile strength | 290 MPa | 317 MPa |
| Yield strength | 131 MPa | 248 MPa |
| Condition | Typical as cast | Typical as cast |
Use A413 aluminum properties with their process and specimen conditions. A larger strength bar does not establish better pressure tightness, machinability or wear performance.
319 and A357 are not added to this chart because their proposed casting and heat-treatment bases must be defined separately.
These selected weight-percent limits help identify the alloy family. They do not reproduce every element limit or replace the complete contractual specification.
| Alloy reference | Silicon · wt% | Selected alloying limits · wt% | Source |

| B390.0 | 16.0–18.0 | Copper 4.0–5.0 | NADCA chemistry → |
Selected published limits, not a chemical analysis for your delivered lot. Review all residual and additional element restrictions, exact designation and required records.
What pattern, core, allowance and surface requirements does your geometry need?
What mold opening, feeding, quantity and heat-treatment requirements apply?
What gate, vent, ejection, trimming and internal-quality requirements control the part?
Do not assume all four alloys use the same process. Confirm the specified grade, proposed route and project availability before comparing the price.
Cast aluminum selection guide →Separate the casting envelope from the machined datums, fits, sealing faces and threads. Include heat-treatment sequence and any final finish in the dimensional plan.
Review incoming condition, fixture support and machining stock.
Measure the critical features in the agreed supplied state.

Specify the intended appearance, corrosion exposure, masking and functional surfaces. Approve a representative casting sample rather than an unrelated wrought-aluminum finish panel.
For anodizing, the casting alloy and surface condition affect appearance. For powder coating, agree preparation, color, gloss and handling protection.
Anodizing review → · Powder coating review →| Comparison | What your approval should resolve |

| 319 vs A356 | Full chemistry, casting route, temper, environment and finished-part verification. |
| A357 vs A356 | Exact grade, required condition and project-specific qualification; no automatic temper or alloy substitution. |
| A413 vs A380 | Filling and sealing requirements alongside actual mechanical and finishing requirements. |
| B390 vs A380 | Working surface, machining, mating material and validation rather than strength alone. |
Similar application lists and cross-reference names are not permission to change the specified alloy.

Compare the same supplied-part scope, including tooling, trials, heat treatment, machining, finish, verification and packing. A raw alloy price cannot represent the delivered component.
Review cost drivers →319 is an aluminum-silicon-copper casting alloy. Keep the exact designation, process and required temper on the controlled drawing and purchase specification.
Review the intended function and cast surface; approve a representative sample for appearance. A casting should not inherit a wrought-alloy cosmetic expectation.
Review the actual alloy, surface and purpose with the finishing process. Obtain sample approval instead of promising a uniform decorative result.
Tooling, geometry, quantities, machining of working surfaces, finish and required verification shape the supplied-part quote.
The drawing and governing specification control the required condition. Do not add or omit heat treatment solely from an application list.
No universal wear life follows from the alloy name. Define contact, lubrication, loads, temperature and the required validation.
The casting, machining, joint and test method all matter. Define the actual medium, pressure and acceptance limit for the component.
Send the complete material specification, drawing, quantities and required records. Availability, route and qualification require project confirmation.
