How do I choose between 6061 and 7075 Aluminum?
Choose 6061 for general purpose parts requiring good machinability, weldability, and corrosion resistance at a lower cost. Choose 7075 when you need high strength-to-weight ratios (comparable to many steels), typically for aerospace or high-stress applications, but note it is more expensive and difficult to weld.
What is a cheaper alternative to PEEK for high-temperature applications?
If you don't need PEEK's extreme chemical resistance or 250°C+ continuous use temperature, consider ULTEM (PEI) or PPS. They offer excellent heat resistance and strength at a fraction of the cost of PEEK, making them great substitutes for many medical and aerospace components.
Why are my injection molded ABS parts cracking?
ABS parts typically crack due to Environmental Stress Cracking (ESC) from exposure to certain chemicals/oils, poor knit line strength caused by improper gate placement during molding, or UV degradation if used outdoors without stabilization. Consider switching to PC-ABS or adding UV stabilizers.

What is the best material for CNC machined prototypes?
For metals, 6061 Aluminum is the industry standard due to its low cost and excellent machinability. For plastics, ABS or POM (Delrin) are ideal as they machine cleanly, hold tight tolerances, and accurately simulate end-use production parts.
